Montis

Daley

‘I have been working at Montis for 33 years. Most of my colleagues have also been working here for a super long time. I find the Daley the most
fun to make, precisely because you have to put in a lot of work. First you stitch the upholstery together, then you use 2 needles for the decorative stitching, then you stitch it together further. You finish the frame with brush, and attach pull strips and ribbons for the upholstery. You finish the seat cushion with anti-slip and a zip. One Daley cover takes me about 2 hours. And I’m just one part of the whole production process. The great thing is, you really see something being created.’

“Kwaliteit is een grappig concept. We beschouwen het vaak als iets dat geassocieerd wordt met handwerk. Maar kwaliteit gaat ook over je houding ten opzichte van design.”
