Oliver Schick

“Sometimes, the surprise can be found in a grand gesture; other times, it’s in a small, almost inconspicuous detail.”

Oliver Schick (1969, Darmstadt) studied product design in Saarbrücken. He worked as a freelance designer and started his own design studio in 2005. “I shift between free work with an investigative character and functional assignments. The end result is different every time. Although I make sure to never lose sight of narrative character and visual impact, even in my commissioned work. A piece of furniture or utensil you use every single day should not be boring or predictable.”

Schick likes to utilize a broad range of design influences, from the pure functionalism of Bauhaus and Dieter Rams to the more casual approach of Ingo Maurer and other free spirits.
